GAY TRAVEL IN PORTUGAL

In an ongoing effort to provide valuable information, here is another chapter on points of interest for the Gay and Lesbian traveler.  In the days and weeks to come, we'll be posting information that one would not necessarily find in other Gay guides.

Lisbon

We wanted to recommend a nice gay bar in Bairro Alto, the Gay area of Lisbon.  Bar 106. It's a nice bar with a friendly staff.  What makes this bar stand out aside from the nice surrounding is their commitment to fight AIDS.  Every Wednesdays thru Fridays, they offer free HIV testing.  The Portuguese Gay Activist Group "G.A.T" will test anyone free of charge for the HIV virus.  The test is anonymous and the staff is trained and equipped to perform the tests quickly and answer health, prevention, and protection questions the Gay Community may have.

Another point of interest in located south of Lisbon in the Algarve region.
The Pride Disco.  Inaugurated in 2007.  This establishment if the first Gay Friendly Hotel and Sauna.  Located in Albufeira.  A dance area was added in 2009 by the group PRIDE and is lively until early dawn. The music style is Top 10 and House.
